NASM-Certified Mom ×3, Kickboxer, & Behavior Therapist (aka pro habit-trainer :P)
My fitness journey began at sixteen years old, after running my high school’s required mile in P.E. and getting the slowest run time in the entire class. I was wheezing, having never worked out a day in my life, while my classmates laughed and told me I’d never be athletic. I joined cross-country that year as the slowest runner on the team, ran nearly every day that year, and came back the following year with a twelve-minute PR (personal record) on my 5k time. Through that experience, I became addicted to the idea of finding out what I’m capable of, beating the odds, and becoming someone whose body reflects a personal inward journey of radical self love and expansive capabilities - traits that felt so far from me at the time. Fast forward two kids later, I felt busy and tired and weak. My “me time” was slim and I felt like I’d been given a new body that I didn’t know how to work with. In pursuit of feeling better, I hired a personal trainer and tried dozens of programs and nutrition plans, each time getting a little bit closer to the strong, healthy version of myself that I wanted to be, but still feeling frustrated and unsure of how to get the results that I really wanted. My progress was slow and inconsistent, and none of my trainers, colleagues, programs, or even the internet seemed to have the answers I was looking for. I decided to figure out how to get predictable, long-term results by becoming a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. In the process, I learned how to know my body, what I need and enjoy the most, what my body responds well to, and what allows me to evolve as quickly or as slowly as I’m able to make time for in all the ways that I want. I learned how to heal my body after having kids (three of them now!), pulling my abs back together and achieving my longest-held fitness goal of having a six-pack, something I didn’t know could be done without surgery after having kids. Over the last decade, I’ve been constantly learning and growing in my knowledge of fitness and nutrition. I’ve specialized in lifting, running, interval training, body circuits, flexibility and mobility training, and even kickboxing! Now that I’ve achieved a body that gets asked about everywhere I go and, more importantly, a mind that’s fortified and resilient and genuinely happy with the person I am now (I had to learn to love myself in order to consistently work on myself in all the ways that are the most difficult for me), I want nothing more than to help you lovely people find the drive and fulfillment that comes from allowing yourself to evolve in the ways you feel drawn to. This journey is not an easy one but, with the right guidance from an experienced professional, it can be a lot smoother. And, with the right teacher, you can learn how to reach your personal goals on your timeline, through every schedule or dietary change, every event or dinner date, every family or job change, with or without equipment, with any time commitment that works for you (within reason of course). Training with me, you’ll learn a lot. And, when the time comes, you’ll leave with full confidence that you can reach any goal you set your mind to, and you can achieve far more than you ever thought possible. Are you ready?
